I want to knit slippers, where can I buy prefabricated soles?
I want to knit a pair of slippers. You know the LONG boot like ones and want to purchase some suede or leather soles. Im looking for soles that are one peice with the holes around the edge where you sew the knitted upper onto the sole and I can't find them anywhere! Hope someone can help, I'm looking to make these as a gift.

I don't know where you can get the actual soles, but if you can't find them try this.
Get some leather (tandy leather has an online site and their prices aren't too bad) and trace the bottom of a shoe in the right size. It will be a little big, but that's okay, it will be a little less wear on where the laces go through. Punch holes in the edges with an awl (you can get one at just about any craft store, and use it for jewelry and other stuff later), then sew on the knitting. Optionally, before you sew the soles to the knitting, rub them several times with melted candlewax or parafin. This toughens the leather and will help them last a lot longer.
